The reason your website gets found.
I am a forensic linguist by training. Before that description raises more questions than it answers, here is the short version: forensic linguistics is the study of language as evidence, how words are chosen, how meaning is constructed, and how communication lands differently depending on context, audience, and intent. It is, at its core, the science of how language works on people.
I hold an advanced certification from the Forensic Linguistics Institute, founded by John Olsson in the UK, one of the foremost authorities in the field. It turns out that background is exactly what search engine optimization is.
My career took a path that looks indirect until you understand that thread. After completing my degree and a stint teaching, I moved into advertising sales, eventually specializing in digital. I became the digital sales manager at KGAN CBS 2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where I spent years helping businesses understand not just how to spend their digital budgets, but why certain strategies worked and others didn't. That question — why does this work — is what led me deeper into SEO, analytics, and the mechanics of digital visibility.
It is also where I met Nicole.
We recognized each other immediately, the way people occasionally do. Within six months she was my person. Our relationship grew personally and professionally, side by side, over more than a decade. When she launched Kismet, joining her was not a difficult decision. It was the obvious one.
I bring a different kind of thinking to the studio than Nicole does. She finds what makes a business irreplaceable and builds something beautiful around it. My job is to make sure the right people can find it. Those two things are not separate conversations. At Kismet, they never are.

the strategist
Every website Kismet builds gets my review before it goes live, at no extra cost. A genuine strategic analysis, not a checklist: structure, metadata, content architecture, local signals, and the technical foundations that determine whether search engines and AI systems understand what a business does and who it serves.
For businesses that want to go further, ongoing SEO strategy, analytics interpretation, and ongoing digital visibility work are available as a separate service.
Some businesses need SEO turned all the way up. Others need a foundation built now so it's there when they're ready to grow. What no business needs is a beautiful website that nobody can find. That outcome is entirely preventable, and preventing it is what I do.
I was trained to teach. I take that seriously. My goal is never to make SEO feel like a mystery that only experts can navigate. It is to give you a clear, accurate picture of where you stand and what it would take to improve it. Then we decide together what makes sense for your business.
Most agencies will sell you SEO services whether or not they'll actually help you. I won't.
If you want ongoing SEO, analytics, or blog strategy from me, there's a real commitment on both sides. Blog content, for example, only works with consistency: two posts a month, minimum, for a year. Search engines and readers both need time to notice a pattern before they trust it. One post a month doesn't build that pattern. It just produces content that sits there, unread, un-ranked, and eventually unfunded. I'd rather tell you that upfront than take your money for something that won't move the needle.
I'm not interested in being accommodating if accommodating means wasting your time and budget. If a strategy won't work for your business, I'll say so, even if it's not what you were hoping to hear. And if someone isn't willing to do what the data says actually works, I'm not the right person for that project. That's not a threat. It's just honesty about what gets results and what doesn't.
The people who work well with me are the ones who want a straight answer more than a comfortable one.
Whether you are starting a new project with Kismet or you have an existing site that needs a strategic eye, I am glad to be part of the conversation.
Every Kismet project includes my review. For businesses that want to go deeper, ongoing SEO strategy and analytics services are available. Bring your questions. I will bring the data and a straight answer.
